Company Profile
The Co-operative Carob Marketing Federation was established in 1953 with the objective of selling to local and foreign markets, the carob production of its members, the five  Co-operative Carob Marketing Unions operating in each of the five carob producing districts in Cyprus. Following the Turkish invasion of 1974 the Unions of Kyrenia and Famagusta were forced to seize operations, leaving the Federation to represent the interests of carob producers in the districts of Larnaca, Limassol and Paphos. Member unions are obliged to deliver the produce to the Federation which is responsible for the marketing of the carob production. Each union has its own kibbling plant and local farmers-members deliver their harvested carobs to district warehouses.
The Federation is based in Limassol where it operates its processing units which specialise in, (a) the selection of whole carobs for human consumption, (b) the kibbling of whole carobs, (c) the roasting of the carob powder which produces a product suitable for the replacement of cocoa in confectioneries. The federation is managed by a committee of five and a General Secretary is responsible for the daily marketing activities

The Co-Op is the leading organization in the collection, processing and trading of carobs, controlling nearly 70% of the islands production and trade. It is the key co-ordinator between the export markets and the agricultural production via its three district Unions. Its wide market base provides the company with substantial carob supplies to serve bulk traders in foreign markets and its recent investment in roasted carob powder processing gives a further competitive edge in this highly demanded export product.
