Company Profile

The company is located at Dimes, a village in a luscious green habitat, in the Pitsilia region of the Troodos mountain range, at a distance of 40 km from Limassol and 50 km from Nicosia.† It is a family run enterprise that carries an inherited know-how of the traditional processes and the small secrets of smoking meat products. The decision to commercialize this expertise was taken in 1982, by the founder,†Mr. Andreas Kyriakou who became convinced from the persistent requests that he had been receiving from inhabitants of Limassol, that there was an important market for his products.† A processing unit smaller than 100 sq. meters was set up and run by Mr. and Mrs. Kyriakou producing a line of products that included Loukanika (Sausages), Hiromeri, Bacon and Lountza, all made using the traditional methods of aging in wine and smoking.† Sales improved and by 1991 the operation was organized into a company and subsequent plant extensions turned the unit into a fully modernized, plant of 300 sq.m..† In 1998 the company's product line expanded to include also Pastourma (beef product) while in 2000 the company received a HACCP certification.†

Two lorries make up the distribution team delivering the company's products to a broad number of retail selling points around Cyprus, with the main marketing focus being the major towns of Nicosia, Limassol, and recently Paphos. The company is keen to establish trading relationships with foreign customers who wish to stock traditional, smoked meat products.†

Tradition Continued†....

Meat processing is carried out using only traditional processes and local ingredients. Red wine that is used in the production process is made in-house, using local Mavro variety grapes.†No preservatives are added in the products, since a well monitored maturing process, as practiced in older times, ensures that the smoked meat can be preserved naturally.

A new generation management has joined the company and new plans are due for further expansion in productive capacity.† Tsamarella will soon be launched to the market as a new product with a new†production line soon to be in place.

The company invites people who wish to taste and purchase its traditional meat products to visit the processing unit and combine a recreation trip to Dimes village along with a unique tasting experience.
